Dimapur, Feb. 19: In a series of gaffe by national newspaper, one renowned newspaper in its online edition on Sunday carried news article on State Chief Minister TR Zeliang’s resignation with the headline ‘Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang resigns amidst political turmoil’ but with the photo of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki.
This blunder by the national newspaper was the third in a row. Earlier, the same newspaper published photo of China’s President Xi Jinping instead of Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo on February 11, 2017.
The online news portal also carried official statement of TR Zeliang announcing his decision to step down.
However, after almost 30 minutes into publishing the goof-up photo, the mugshot of former Arunachal Pradesh CM Tuki was taken down and replaced with CM Zeliang’s photo.
Earlier this month Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh Governor PB Acharya had stated “Indians know more about US than Northeast” during an inauguration programme of Arunachal Tourism Award at Indira Gandhi Park, Arunachal Pradesh.
The series of blunders by national media goes to ascertain that Northeast states and the leaders continue to be overlooked and ill informed by people from other parts of the country.
