Another drug, gold racket busted in Manipur

Our Correspondent Imphal, July 19 (EMN): A day after seizing Rs. 3.39 crores worth narcotics drugs and psychotropic substances from the possession of five individuals by a combined team security forces, troops of 12 Assam Rifles managed to detect and recovered 18 gold biscuits and 2 gold bars worth Rs. 2.81 crores from an individual during a routine checking in Chandel district, Manipur on Wednesday. Assam Rifles sources said the incident took place when the troops were checking an Imphal bound Maruti van (MN01W/4277) at permanent vehicle check post Khudengthabi area on Tuesday. The recovered items and arrested individual Md Shajid Khan(38) of Moreh ward number 5 has been handed over to Customs Preventive force at Moreh town for furthers actions. In continuing drive against drugs by Imphal East district police, a combined team of the civil police and Narcotics seized 250 grams of heroin number 4powder worth approximately Rs.28 lakhs in the international market from the possession of two persons, police sources said here on Wednesday. The incident occurred when the combined teams were checking and frisking two persons B Krishna (26) of Gamnom veng ward no.3 moreh and Solim letkhongam mate (26) of Tengnoupal while coming in a Santro car (MNO6-L-5665) at Mantripukhri area around 2.30 this afternoon, the source stated. The persons along with the seized heroin were handed over to Heingang police station for further necessary action.
