
DIMAPUR — In collaboration with office of the Chief Veterinary Officer, Wokha, the Ward 10 councillor of Wokha Town Council (WTC), Thungchano Kikon, organised a vaccination drive and animal health campaign at Blue Hill colony, Wokha town on October 9.
According to a DIPR report, the campaign, covered through the Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) flagship programme, was launched at the residence of chief medical officer, Dr. Zuben Kikon.
Veterinary assistant surgeon, Dr. Limathung Jami highlighted on the significance of vaccination and also emphasised that vaccination plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and wellbeing of both dogs and pigs.
Vaccination ultimately prevents the animals from contracting deadly diseases such as rabies in dogs and swine fever in pigs, which can spread rapidly.
Councillor of Ward 10, Thungchano Kikon said that the main objective of organising the vaccination campaign was to protect the health of the individual animals as well as for the broader community.
Altogether 60 dogs and 58 pigs were vaccinated on the launching day of the campaign in Ward 10, which comprises of six colonies.
Chairman of Rachan colony, Jacon Khuvung, chaired the launching programme.
The campaign was organised on the theme ‘Stronger together-vaccinate your dogs and pigs for a healthier community.’
