Dimapur, June 9 (EMN): Anglers from Nagaland, Tripura, and Manipur had a field day at Noune Resort during the second Nagaland Angling competition on Sat. June 9 organised by Anglers Association in Nagaland in association with the department of Fisheries, government of Nagaland.
Advisor of Fisheries, L Khumo Khiamniungan was a special invitee to the programme whereas; the secretary to the government of Nagaland Fisheries department, T Mhabemo Yanthan addressed the keynote.
Yanthan, in his address asserted that arranging a competition like angling was not easy but the commitment to make the environment vibrant was the force that kept the Angling Association going. He said that environment was the second most talked topic in the world at present, so he urged everyone to protect the environment. “If we care for ecosystem let us join hands together to conserve our ecosystem and water bodies,” he stated.
The first prize was won by Subasish Das from Nagaland with a catch of 2.545 kilograms whereas the runners-up Lipoktemsu, also from Nagaland with 885 grams. The second runners-up went to Akai Awomi again from Nagaland with 805 grams of fish. Khylomo Lotha was awarded the most disciplined participant. Bobo was the competitor to catch the first fish during the competition which weighed 165 grams.
Total prize money of INR 2.5 lakhs was given to the winning participants in various categories.
Meanwhile it was also informed that another angling competition was also carried out at Musu Angling Club, Hoito Village on June 9. The competition was organised by the Dimapur District Anglers.
Besides anglers from Dimapur, more than 200 anglers including participants from Shillong, Assam, Manipur, and different districts of Nagaland participated in the day long competition.
According to information, the owner of Musu Angling Club announced that angling would be open to all angling lovers from June 11 till July 8 (Tuluni), which the owner said was a Tuluni offer.
