Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): The All Nagaland Government College Teachers Association (ANGCTA) has informed that it will join the rest of the country to protest the draft National Education Policy (NEP) on November 22, with the protest being in the form of a pen-down strike.
In a statement that was issued on Wednesday, the association stated: “This is in response to a call by the All India Federation of College and University Teachers Organisation (AIFUCTO) of which ANGCTA is an affiliate.”
It informed that the members of the organisation concluded after deliberating on the various aspects of the draft NEP in the national executive committee meeting of AIFUCTO at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College in Chandigarh on October 20 that the policy “will bring about disastrous consequences in the education system of the country if implemented by commoditisation of higher education.” In this regard, the members of the organisation unanimously agreed to resist the draft, it added.
ANGCTA has also urged ‘private colleges as well as student organisations to join and support the movement of Save Education, Save Nation as all are stakeholders and the policies at the Centre on education affect the future of education system in the state too.’
