Wokha, May 31 (EMN): One person was killed on the spot after a vehicle, a Mahindra Bolero pick-up, rolled off the road and plunged about 250 ft below, some five km away from ‘Sanis zero point’ in Wokha district on Thursday.
The tragedy occurred around 1.40 pm. Sources confirmed that the person who was killed was identified as one Nchumbeni Merry of Okotso village. The vehicle was reported to be carrying ten passengers, including the driver and a two-month old infant.
Police report said that seven of the passengers, all women, were Anganwadi workers. They were said to have been returning from Sanis after collecting Anganwadi materials and were proceeding towards Okotso village. Five people were injured seriously and taken to the community health centre of Sanis for first aid. They were later referred to Dimapur.
