- KOHIMA — The
Angami tribe will celebrate Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival on February 25
and 26 at the Amphitheatre, Kisama, Naga Heritage Village.
- This was informed by the vice president of Angami Public
Organisation (APO) and convenor of planning committee, Vikehelie Victor
Khawakhrie, along with the vice president of Angami Youth Organisation (AYO)
and secretary of planning committee, Dievi Yano, and AYO president and member
of planning committee, Kesosul Christopher Ltu, during a press conference held
at APO building in Kohima on Thursday.
- Nagaland’s Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, will be the chief
host of the festival, while the advisor of Printing and Stationery, Kropol
Vitsu, will be the host.
- Yano informed that the first day of the festival would be
confined to the Angamis with the advisor of Printing and Stationery, Kropol
Vitsu, as the host.
- The formal programme would be followed by Angami ethnic,
cultural and indigenous games such as war cry, tati pfe, folk song, phrida,
traditional fire-making, tholi and wooden top spin.
- On February 26 at 10 am, Rio would be the chief host. The
formal programme would be followed by an exhibition of Naga wrestling, which
would be conducted for Under-12 and Under-15 categories besides a tug-of-war
competition among the four areas of the Angamis.
- Later in the evening, at 4 pm, there would be a
Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill musical night with Nieketuno Sechü, Miss Nagaland
2023, as the hostess. The event would feature performances by artistes
including Visetuo Chüpuo, Bayie Kro-u, Vikuyole Tase, Neilaü Thaprü, Rovi Metha
and Coffee, Zayie, Avinuo Metha, LC Sekhose, Kikruleno Keyho and Dieze Sothu.
- AYO president stated that the planning committee is looking
forward to the participation of not only the Angamis but also other Nagas and
tourists in and around Kohima and Nagaland.
