KOHIMA — A total of 245 vehicles turned up for registration on the first day of the local and zonal taxi permit verification drive undertaken by the Angami Youth Organisation (AYO) on Tuesday at the AYO office in Kohima.
As announced earlier, taxis operating in designated areas including New Reserve, Lerie, CRPF Camp, AG, BOC, Japfu Hotel, Jail Colony, Agri & Forest, and Paramedical, reported for registration.
Kesosul Christopher Ltu, president of AYO, told media persons that despite initial morning delays on the drive's first day, 245 vehicles had registered by 5 pm. Registrations were conducted with both car owners and drivers present.
Ltu also stated that late evening, he was informed that some drivers had gathered at ISBT, but he confirmed that AYO had not received any official grievances by the time of reporting.
Despite reports of drivers gathering at ISBT, the AYO president was of the view that genuine taxi operators shouldn't face issues with verification.
As far as the checking is concerned, all the owners as well as drivers have come for the verification, he said.
He also stated that further comments would be withheld until after a scheduled evening meeting with All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) officials.
