KISAMA — The Angami tribe emerged victorious in
the tug-of-war competitions in the male as well as female categories on
Thursday, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports at Kisama.
The event was part of the ongoing 25th edition of the Hornbill Festival.
The competition featured male and female teams from various
Naga tribes, each consisting of eight participants. The winning teams were
awarded cash prizes of INR 25,000 each.
In the male category, the Garo tribe secured second place
and was awarded INR 15,000, while the Konyak tribe took third place and
received a cash prize of INR 10,000.
It may be noted that the Angami tribe defeated the Chang
tribe in the first semi-final, while the Garo tribe overcame the Konyak tribe
in the second semi-final to compete in the final.
In the female category, the Sangtam tribe secured second
place, while the Kachari tribe took third. They were also awarded INR 15,000
and INR 10,000, respectively.
The prizes were presented to the winners by the Minister for
Rural Development and SIRD, Metsubo Jamir, and the Advisor for Animal Husbandry
& Veterinary Services, Kazheto Kinimi.
