Kohima, June 4 (EMN): In an effort to protect the environment and further to create awareness and advocacy for balancing the environment, the Angami Baptist Theological Fellowship (ABTF) under Angami Baptist Church Council (ABCC) organised a mass social work on Saturday by planting trees and carrying out beautification drive in five different zones under Kohima and Dimapur districts.
Over 500 theological youth participated in the day’s programme and planted around 4000 trees in their respective jurisdiction.

The Southern Angami theological students along with some church youth planted 2300 trees along the National Highway 39 from Phesama till Khuzama. Over 150 youth from different churches participated in the work initiated by the Japfüphiki Baptist Theological Fellowship, informed a release issued by ABTF president Villo Naleo.
While the Chakhro theological students planted trees along the highway beginning from Higher Secondary Chumukedima till Khovarü. Around 150 members and youth participated in the programme of plantation and beautification drive, it was informed.
The Northern Angami theological students planted hundreds of fruit trees along the National Highway 61. It was informed that hundreds of youth from 30 churches under Pesocha Baptist Church Council participated in the programme.
In order to save plastic bags, Kohima town area theological members and youth distributed hand-made paper bags to many shops in Kohima town. In the State capital, youth from the Angami Baptist churches under Kohima council participated in the day’s social work.
In responding to the initiative of the ABTF, the Western Angami theological youth worked at the compound of the Western Angami Baptist Council at Sechü Zubza. Their work included plantation, cleaning and gardening. Around 70 people participated in the work initiated under the western council.
Meanwhile, ABTF executive has thanked the Forest Department for providing sufficient tree saplings for the plantation drive. The theological fellowship has also extended appreciation to the youth from different churches for their participation initiated by the ABTF.
