- KOHIMA — The Angami Students' Union (ASU) is
set to organise its 31st biennial general conference in Khonoma village from
April 4 to the 6th, with a nature conservation campaign as a key highlight.
- The event, to be hosted by the Khonoma Students' Union, is
expected to draw over 25,000 participants, including students and invitees, for
the three-day gathering.
- The ASU executive members and the organising committee for
the conference on Monday said during a press conference that Khonoma, the host
village, is India's first green village and has successfully carried out nature
conservation efforts.
- As a sign of support for this endeavour, the ASU has decided
that the entire delegation will make a pledge through a signature campaign for
the conservation and preservation of nature.

that nature conservation is a collective responsibility, it stated.
- A key highlight of the campaign includes minimising the use
of single-use plastics and adopting eco-friendly practices wherever possible.
To support this initiative, the union has urged the student community to bring
their water bottles.
- Themed 'Prege' (Tenyidie for 'to be forerunners'), Minister
PHED N Jacob Zhimomi will attend the inaugural event, while other guests
include Advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, former MLA Medo Yhokha, among others.
