Kohima, April 3 (EMN): The 27th biennial general conference of the Angami Students’ Union (ASU) is scheduled from April 7 to 9 at Centenary Compound, Jotsoma village on the theme “Realistic Response.”
Over one thousand students from all the four ranges of the Angami community, including Chakhroma, Northern, Southern and Western, would be attending the three-day conference, which would be hosted by the Jotsoma Students’ Union (JSU). This was informed during a press conference held this evening at ASU office chamber, Kohima.
Addressing the press conference, convenor of the organising committee, Kelhouneizo Yhome informed that the introductory session on April 7 would be graced by Er. Vipulhou Lhoungu, principal of Government Polytechnic, as the speaker, while Er. Kevisekho Kruse, chief engineer PHED, will be the speaker of the inaugural function on April 8.
A literary session is also scheduled on day-two of the conference, where participants from the four ranges will compete in debate and extempore speech, followed by the academic session with Dr. Hovithal Sothu, Deputy Director, ATI, and Kekhrie Yhome, former assistant professor of Delhi University, as the speakers. The topic for the debate is “Angami students are progressing.”
Rev Dr. SanyüI ralu, principal of Shalom Bible Seminary, Sechüma, and Er. Krosü Rhetso, chief engineer of Roads & Bridges, will be the speakers for the devotional service and valedictory session respectively on April 9.
Meanwhile, it was informed that a new team of ASU executive council and union assembly for the tenure 2017-2019 would be elected during the conference. To this, all the regional units are asked to come prepare with qualified candidates for various posts to be filled.
For the debate and extempore speech, the regional units are asked to come with two participants each for both the competitions, while for the ASU extravaganza nite scheduled on April 8 evening, the units are asked to come with three items each. All the four units have also been directed to submit two flags each in standard size for the said conference.
The delegates attending the conference have been informed to bring light bedrolls. It was informed that the host would provide dunlop for the delegates. It was further informed that there be offering for the devotional service.
