DIMAPUR — The Angami Students' Union (ASU) has expressed solidarity with Naga sisters and Angami women's organisations seeking justice in the sexual harassment case involving Reny Wilfred.
In a statement on Thursday, the union stated that that any act compromising the safety and dignity of “our people is strictly non-permissible within our civil society.”
“Such deplorable behaviour is entirely foreign to the cultural ethos and inherent values of our land and it must remain confined to wherever it originated rather than find any foothold in our society,” it stated.
The ASU stated that the student community cannot and will not be expected to grow under the shadow of fear or the threat of exploitation by high-ranking officials who are entrusted by the state to protect and mentor, yet stand accused of violating that very trust.

The union asserted that, to ensure the security and morale of the upcoming generations, the trial against Reny Wilfred must proceed without further excuse or administrative shielding, adhering to a strict day-to-day timeline to ensure that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
"Let it be known that the Angami Students' Union does not issue this call lightly; we are prepared to go to any extent necessary to support our sisters and safeguard the integrity of our people," the statement said.
The union demanded a transparent and impartial judicial process, free from external influence, and stated that it would remain steadfast in its pursuit until a definitive and just conclusion is reached.
"The ASU stands ready to act, ensuring that the rule of law prevails and that the dignity of our land is upheld with the utmost gravity," it added.
