Kohima, June 10 (EMN): Visako Rino from Medziphema village, on Saturday, took over the charge as the president of the Angami Students’ Union (ASU), the apex student body of the Angami community. The handing and taking over of the new ASU executive council for the tenure 2017 - 2019 was held today at Zogazou, Tsiese Basa.
A 33 year-old Visako Rino, representing Chakhroma Students’ Union (CSU), was elected as the ASU president on April 9 this year during the valedictory session of the 27th ASU biennial general conference held at Jotsoma village. The new president served as the general secretary in the previous tenure and succeeded Dievi Yano as the president.
The new ASU team comprises of 17 members. They included Petekhrietuo Kiewhuo (NASU) as vice president, Vizokho Zashümo (SASU) as general secretary, Keviseto Rhitso (WASU) as assistant general secretary, Rokolhou Shünyü (SASU) as finance secretary, Mego Ratsa (CSU) as secretary of sports, Kekhriengulie Keditsu (NASU) as secretary of education, Vitsikuolie Kehie (CSU) as secretary of literature, Avizo Lcho (SASU) as secretary of information and publicity, Kekuosetuo Chase (NASU) as secretary of art & culture, Neitsituo Mere (NASU) as secretary of environment, health & sanitation, Kevisilie Khate (WASU) as secretary of library & archives, Kholievizo Chadi (NASU) as treasurer, Kevisetuo Sechü (WASU) as auditor general, Kekhrievituo Dahou (WASU) as assembly speaker, Teisovi Thorie (SASU) as deputy speaker and Vizovo Yongo (SASU) as assembly secretary.
On the day, ASU Tribunal member Neizokhotuo Belho exhorted the gathering. In his address, Belho lauded the outgoing team for rendering their best for the Naga society, while he urged the new team to be committed and lead by example. He expressed hope that the team, led by Visako, will perform better and do greater things for the Angami community and the Nagas at large.
The new president assured to render his best for the welfare of the society.
The outgoing president Dievi Yano thanked all individuals and organisations who supported his leadership in all possible ways, while he particularly thanked the four constituent units for its cooperation and support during the last two years.
The programme was also attended by members from AYO and senior leaders of ASU.
