The Angami Sports Association plans its 55th Meet for February 2027 during a consultative meeting in Piphema.
DIMAPUR — The Angami Sports Association, along with its four regional bodies, held a consultative meeting on August 29 at the Piphema Cultural Hall to discuss youth development and the future of games and sports.
According to an update, the regional bodies represented at the meeting were the Northern Angami Sports Association, Western Angami Youth Organisation, Chakhroma Youth Organisation, and Southern Angami Sports Association.
The meeting, chaired by Angami Sports Association Vice President Thinuovilie Keyho, brought together executives and leaders from the four regions to discuss youth development.
Following an invocation by CRC Piphema Deaconess Kehounei-ü Keyho, Angami Sports Association President Ruokuovikho Chale delivered the keynote address, while Treasurer Virielhoulie Miario briefed the gathering on sports equipment availability and procurement.
The regional leaders and senior players shared their experiences and views, focusing on nurturing young minds, effectively utilising sports talent, promoting physical health, and adopting a "minimum budget, maximum platform" approach. Participants also stressed using sports not merely for competition but as a movement for positive change and community well-being.
The meeting further discussed the upcoming 55th Angami Sports Association Meet, tentatively scheduled for February 18 and 19, 2027, with indigenous games to be included as part of the event.
