KOHIMA, SEPTEMBER 30: In view of the forthcoming golden jubilee celebration of Angami Sports Association (ASA) scheduled to be held from February 7-11, 2017 at Kohima local ground, a coordination meeting between ASA office bearers and Angami legislators was held at Hotel Japfü this evening.
Briefing media persons, ASA general secretary Er Zale Neikha said, in commemoration of the jubilee celebration, a musical live concert is being organised on October 14 at NSF Solidarity Park, New Secretariat from 5:30 pm.
The concert, he said will be featuring Angami artistes including Methaneilie Jütakhrie, Ruokuovotuo Pfusenuo; Vikhotsono Neikha, Diethozo Thakro, Menguseü Suokhrie, Thejaneinuo Kiewhuo, Keneisedenuo Zatsu, Viriezhünuo Solo and the DG Band.The stone pulling ceremony tentatively scheduled to be held on December 3 in collaboration with the state government will feature 5000 Angamis from the four regions namely Southern, Northern, Western and Chakhroma in full traditional attire for the ceremony.
The starting point of the stone pulling will be at Kohima Municipal Parking, Science College road and will end at Phoolbari ‘Y’ junction. Neikha informed that this would be followed by a feast at Kohima local ground. About 10,000 participants are expected.
Meanwhile, he also informed that the events of sports to be conducted during the five days golden jubilee celebration includes golden jubilee marathon race (open), Naga style wrestling, football for men, volleyball for both men and women, table tennis (men and women), badminton – single and double (men and women) and Sepaktakraw–REGU (men and women).
Track and field events for both men and women: 100 metre race, 200 metre race, 400 metre race, 800 metre race, 1500 metre race, 4X100 relay race, high jump, long jump, shot put, discus throw, javelin throw and 3000 metre race and triple for men only, and bamboo walk (kere phituo) for men only.
Neikha also informed that a budget of Rs 70 lakhs has been earmarked for the golden jubilee celebration.
Meanwhile, during the meeting, Angami wrestlers who have participated in the recently concluded National Traditional Wrestling Tournament at Pune were felicitated.
