Dimapur, Nov. 6 (EMN): Acceding to the government’s request and sincere effort towards meeting the genuine grievances, the All Nagaland Fair Price Shop Association (ANFPSA) has decided to postpone its proposed agitation till further notice.
The decision to postpone the proposed agitation was taken after the association and the state government officials held a meeting in the office of the Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies in Dimapur on November 5.
The state government was represented by the joint director of Food and Civil Supplies, nodal officer, deputy director and senior inspector, an update from the association information cell stated on Friday.
The association had threatened to launch an agitation in protest against the government’s failure to release the pending transportation and handling charges due to fair price shop dealers all over Nagaland.
During the meeting, the association expressed its resentment on the government’s apathy towards FPS dealers in addressing the transportation and handling charges which has been kept pending for the year 2018-2019 and 2019-2020.
It stated that the officers representing the government gave a patience hearing agreed to take up the matter rigorously on utmost priority with the state and central governments. They also requested the association to understand their position and to work collectively to bring about an amicable solution.
Meanwhile, the association has acknowledged all the district unit fair price shops’ union for their unflinching support in taking up the issues confronting the FPS dealers.
The association further warned to resume its democratic form of agitation if the government fails to fulfill their demand.
