Dimapur, Nov. 10 (EMN): Anderson Theological College, stated to be in Zunheboto district, is celebrating its silver jubilee. The event on November 9 began with an opening ceremony, updates stated. The organisers issued a press release to the media on Sunday informing about the celebrations.
The welcome address at the event was given by Kakuto Chishi of the college’s board of directors. He mentioned that long ago ‘we didn't know God and the Americans but God sent an American missionary BI Anderson to spread the Gospel and Christianity to the Sumis and he established a church at Aizuto,’ the press release stated.
‘If we do not work harder towards our aim then we will not gain anything in life and that we should all work hard towards what we want to achieve,’ he was quoted as having said.
The dedication of the Jubilee Souvenir was done by Tohoshe Chishi, first chairman of the college’s board of directors dedicated the silver jubilee’s souvenir. He urged the people to keep their faith in God. The students of the college were urged to study and work hard so they would be able to serve the Almighty God, the updates stated.
A church leader Dr. I Pihoto Khala said the college is blessed that it is near to God's heart. Everyone should have faith in God and wait for his good blessings, the updates stated.
Khala was stated to have talked about raising the college and encouraging its growth by sponsoring the college and its students. ‘The college is the root of all Baptist cultures and manners in the land of Sumis,’ the press release stated.
Rev. Dr. Joshua Rochill spoke at the event. He was stated to have cited examples from the Holy Bible. Likewise, he spoke about the meaning of the mottos of both the SBAK at Aizuto and the ATC, and how the college was first established, the difficulties it faced during its initial days.
‘But by God's grace, today the college stands firm and strong and the college has produced many students who are serving God in many other places and will continue to do so,’ the updates stated.
The morning jubilee celebrations on November 10 began with praise music, the updates stated. Picto Shohe, member of legislative assembly, spoke at the event. He thanked God for the wonderful and blessed day as he welcomed the people to the celebrations. ‘God never leaves his people alone but always remains along with them.
The legislator recounted a story about his mother how she struggled in her life to study but she couldn't, she studied in a night school and by God's grace she became a women’s leader and served God,’ the updates stated.
‘He also talked about the root of Christianity in the land of Sumis. Dr. Clark was the first to start night school to educate the people because it was needed very much during those days, he said that his mother also gained education form this night school. Even ATC was started as a Bible school and now it has advanced more,’ the press release stated.
