Dimapur, Nov. 16: The four-day long ‘collegiate meet’ of the All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) concluded on November 16 at Dimapur Government College’s auditorium hall.
Advisor of youth resources and sports, Zalie Neikha, who was also the special invitee, said he was “overwhelmed” to be a part of the programme as it brought home lots of his college life memories. He encouraged the students to walk for the betterment of the society.
The advisor spoke about the imbalance of government job applicants and the insufficient post for all the youths in the government sector. According to statistical report of Nagaland University, over 13, 000 applied for a mere 300 posts of the Nagaland Public Service Commission examinations every year. Keeping this fact in mind, he admitted that government job opportunities alone cannot suffice the unemployed youths in the state. He, therefore, urged students to take up manual works such as tailoring, driving, plumbing etc for sustainable livelihood.
As the evening witnessed a surge of young aspiring students competing for Miss ANCSU, Neikha said that beauty is not only about outer appearance but it includes personality traits, inner beauty, and attitude. He also encouraged the students learning to be independent, allow themselves to grab opportunities and excel, define their unique traits and be the agent of change in the society.
Kawimaningsiliu of Mt. Mary College was crowned Miss ANCSU, while the first and second runners up were conferred to Sarah Yepthomi of Sakus Mission College, and Limasengla Langu of Dimapur Government College respectively.
