The All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCUS) has thrown a quiet reminder at the chief minister of Nagaland concerning what the state was doing to address the anomalies plaguing the controversial Technical Education department, one of the allied departments of the disgraced Education department of the state.
Besides questions over the department’s dubious dealings, the ANCSU has expressed shock and dismay to learn that members of non-indigenous tribes of Nagaland get berths in the state-reserve quota.
The ANCSU issued a press release on Saturday iterating its correspondences with the state government, besides calling for a meeting with parents and students to address said matter.
“The ANCSU takes this opportunity once again to remind the office of the honourable chief minister once and for all the burning issues of the technical education department that is of great concern for the students’ career,” the organization began.
The ANCSU said to have replied to the government’s notification of March 16, 2016. The students’ organization did not elaborate what the contents of said notification.
The press release stated: “In the letter submitted to the honourable chief minister of Nagaland on 29th March 2016 the ANCSU expressed and quoted to non-acceptance of the government notification against the seat reserved quota in its present form of government vide letter no. HTE / TE/ 10-10/ 08 (PT-IV) clause 3. No. Eligibility criteria, category III is beyond our limited understanding, where it is reviewed and approved by cabinet.”
The ANCSU also mentioned candidates belonging to non-local indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland and children of non-local state government employees and children of All India Service Officers “borne on Nagaland cadre.”
“The ANCSU is shocked and dismayed to learn that the non-indigenous tribes of Nagaland get a berth in the state reserve quota. However, the honourable chief minister of Nagaland has not replied to the ANCSU letter dated 29/03/16 till date, which shows the absolute negligence of the state government for the students’ community,” the organization stated.
The college students has called upon all intending candidates to the Nagaland State Entrance Examination [NSEE state reserved quota], parents, well-wishers, social activists, senior leaders of the organization and concerned citizens to a consultative meeting on April 19.
