Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Anaemia Mukt Bharat trainings for government teachers and ASHAs were held from June 20 to the 27th in Niuland, Dimapur Sadar, Chumoukedima, Dhansiripar, and Medziphema.

Anaemia Mukt Bharat programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to reduce the prevalence of anaemia in the vulnerable age group such as women, children and adolescents by focusing on the health and nutrition needs.

The resource persons sensitised the trainees on the prevalence of anaemia in the state and its public health implication such as reduction in physical development, impact on pregnancy outcome, reduced cognitive development and its impact on the economy. They also highlighted the strategies to combat anaemia.

The resource persons were Dr. Rosemary and Vinitoli for Niuland, Dr. Liza, Priscilla, and Kavitoli for Chumoukedima, Dr. Rebecca and Melengunuo for Dimapur Sadar, Dr. Khriekoulie Liezietsu and Mailigdi Naben for Dhansiripar and Dr. Temsu and Nungsangjungla for Medziphema.
