
DIMAPUR — An awareness camp for adolescent girls on women's health was organised by the Department of Social Welfare under Jakhama ICDS Project, in convergence with Health and Family Welfare department, at GMS Kigwema village under Kohima district on Friday.
During the programme, health educator at PHC Kimipfüphe, Awheno, enlightened the participants on what is anaemia, its causes, symptoms and cure, a DIPR report stated. She said that anaemia can be controlled through proper diet and medicine. Loss of appetite, shortness of breath and fatigue are the signs and symptoms of anaemia, the health educator added.
District Hub for Empowerment of Women and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Kohima gender specialist, Kesoneinuo, also addressed the programme and distributed sanitary pads to girl students.
Supervisor, Diethovino Lhoushe, in her keynote address, said that Poshan Maa campaign is India's flagship programme launched by the Prime Minster to improve nutritional outcome for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.
A free health screening by the medical team of PHC, Kimipfüphe, was also held alongside the awareness campaign.
