Department of Social Welfare under CDPO Wokha Project organises anaemia awareness-cum-screening camp for adolescent girls.

DIMAPUR — As part of Rastriya Poshan Maah 2025, the Department of Social Welfare under CDPO Wokha Project, in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, organised a one-day anaemia awareness-cum-screening camp on October 4 for adolescent girls at Urban Health Centre, Wokha.
Medical Officer Dr. Chonben Ezung, who highlighted on health awareness on adolescent girls, stated that the topic of menstrual hygiene is nothing to shy away from but that awareness needs to be created among the communities for proper health care, a DIPR report stated.
Dr. Thungrhoni Kikon highlighted the importance of oral hygiene and dental care, and urged the citizens of Wokha to avail the opportunity for free dental check-up available at the Urban Health Centre attached to CMO office, Wokha.

Following an anaemia screening, 14 adolescent girls were advised to seek medical attention for low haemoglobin, and six were referred for Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) care.
Sanitary pads were also distributed to the girls by the Department of Social Welfare.
The programme was chaired by supervisors Evelynne Yepthomi and Nchumthung Odyuo from the Social Welfare department.
The chief medical officer and Anganwadi workers collaborated with the department for successful conduct of the event.
