Dear Pastors, Church Leaders and Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The Naga Prayer Summit 2026 is being convened as a solemn call to the Naga Church to seek God together at a critical hour. We believe that many of the challenges confronting our people cannot be addressed merely through human wisdom, political strategies or social programmes. We must seek the face of God in prayer.
Why Must We Pray Now?
The Naga people and the Church are facing serious and emerging challenges:
1. Threats to the Church, religious freedom and Christian witness:
The changing political environment in India, the rise of majoritarian tendencies, increasing social and political pressures, and concerns regarding religious freedom, freedom of conscience and the unrestricted practice of Christian faith call the Church to vigilant prayer, wisdom and courage.
2. Naga political aspirations and future:
The prolonged political situation, uncertainty regarding its future, differences among political groups and the need for a peaceful, just and honourable solution require earnest intercession.
3. Fragmentation of Naga society:
Tribal, regional, organisational and political divisions, together with tensions within civil society, threaten our common identity, unity and collective future.
4. Moral and social deterioration:
Corruption, violence, crime, substance abuse, materialism, family breakdown and the erosion of moral values are increasingly affecting our society.
5. Our young people and children:
Addiction, unemployment, digital and cultural influences, moral confusion, identity crises and weakening family and spiritual formation pose serious concerns for the next generation.
6. The spiritual condition of the Church:
Spiritual complacency, declining moral credibility, division, competition, institutionalism and insufficient commitment to holiness, mission and evangelism challenge the Church's witness.
7. Peace, reconciliation and the wider Naga family:
The wounds and conflicts in the Northeast, and the condition of Nagas living in Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Myanmar and elsewhere, call for prayer for protection, reconciliation and unity.
8. The changing world around us:
Rapid political, economic, technological and cultural changes may bring both opportunities and new dangers for our faith, identity, families and society.
These are not merely social or political concerns. At their deepest level, they are spiritual concerns.
A Call to Every Naga Church
We therefore earnestly appeal to every Naga church to participate wholeheartedly in the Naga Prayer Summit.
Let us come together:
In repentance for our failures;
In prayer for the Church and its witness;
In intercession for our children and youth;
For God's guidance concerning the Naga political aspiration;
For healing of divisions and unity among the Naga people;
For peace, justice and religious freedom;
For mission, evangelism and spiritual revival;
For God's protection and guidance over the entire Naga family.
This Summit does not belong to one Church, tribe, association or organisation. It is a call to the whole Naga Christian family. Therefore, we request every pastor and church leader to encourage their members to attend and participate—not merely as spectators, but as intercessors standing together before God for the present and future of our people.
Let us not wait for a crisis to teach us to pray. Let us pray now. Let every church be represented. Let every heart be burdened. Let the Naga Church arise in prayer.
