Dimapur, May 20 : Amon Kharka, an achiever from a humble background whose parents were dairy farmers, won the John Angami Memorial Award 2016 for securing first division in the HSLC examination from John Government Higher Secondary School, Viswema. Ms Keneinguno also secured first division.

It may be mentioned here that during 2015, the descendants of late John Angami decided to institute cash award of Rs 5000 each for meritorious students securing first division in the HSLC and HSSLC examinations from JGHSS, Viswema.

The endeavour bore fruit during HSLC 2015 in which the school produced a lone first divisioner by Ms. Vivonu Vitsu, who won the first “John Angami Memorial Award.”

This year the school performed better by producing two first divisioners in HSLC 2016 namely Amon Kharka and Ms Keneinguno.

In the Higher Secondary section, out of the total 15 students appeared, 12 passed.

It may be mentioned that the school appeared in the Higher Secondary Level for the first time after being upgraded from High School.
