Ammunitions seized from NSCN (IM) cadres

Dimapur, July 29 (EMN): 31 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles (AR) under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) seized three weapons and 300 rounds from NSCN (IM) cadres in Kamjong District on July 28. On specific input a vehicle check post was established at Nampisha to check any illegal movement of cadres with weapon. It is believed that these cadres were involved in smuggling weapons and ammunition and are likely to have collected the same from a supplier from Myanmar. According to press release issued by Public Relation Officer (PRO) HQ IGAR (South) the weapons and ammunition were planned to be smuggled to Ukhrul town. The Assam Rifles in recent times have been proactive and have not kept any stone unturned to maintain normalcy in the district of Kamjong and Ukhrul, release added.
