Amit Shah will visit Manipur this month after accepting Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh’s invitation during their meeting.
IMPHAL — Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Manipur this month, Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh said on Thursday following his meeting with Shah in New Delhi.
Khemchand met the Union Home Minister at his official residence and reiterated his invitation to Shah to visit the state.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Shah accepted the invitation and assured that he would visit Manipur within the month.
During the meeting, Khemchand apprised Shah of the measures being taken by the state government to restore peace and normalcy in Manipur. He also informed the Home Minister that the government had succeeded in resuming the Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus service, which has provided relief to commuters.
The Chief Minister urged the Centre to extend continued support to the state in addressing various issues and sought further assistance from the Central Government.
The Home Minister gave a patient hearing to the Chief Minister and assured all possible support towards restoring lasting peace and promoting progress in the state, the release said.
Shah also appreciated the sustained efforts of the state government to restore peace and normalcy.
In a post on X, Khemchand said he had apprised Shah of the steps taken by the state government and sought continued support and guidance from the Centre. He said he had also reiterated his invitation to Shah to visit Manipur, which the Home Minister had graciously accepted.
According to reports, Shah is expected to lay the foundation stone for a medical college in Senapati district and review other developmental projects during his visit to the state.
