Dimapur, March 1 (EMN): ‘While recognising’ the Naga Students’ Federation’s (NSF) demand for a staff selection board, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has requested the Nagaland government to call for a consultative meeting with stakeholders to take various views and opinions before any final decision is taken on the issue.
The ENSF issued a press release on Sunday to the media.
The statement read: ‘In so far as for constituting of the Nagaland Staff Selection Board moved by the Naga Students’ Federation, the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation while recognising the NSF genuine demand and considering its future implications affecting the lives, interests and careers of students and educated unemployed youths of Nagaland, the ENSF requests the state government to call for a consultative meeting with all the stakeholders of Nagaland positively and take the views and opinions before any final decision is taken by the state government in order to avoid any future confrontation.’
In another matter, the ENSF also expressed displeasure at what it called the “unwarranted and unwanted interference by the non indigenous students’ organizations in the internal affairs” of the state.
The ENSF stated that it “in no uncertain terms, highly object the unwarranted and unwanted interference by the non indigenous students’ organizations in the internal affairs of Nagaland.”
“There is neither a dearth of leadership nor talents in Nagaland to resolve any issues within the state. The state government is accountable and answerable only to the people of Nagaland,” the ENSF claimed.
The organisation has urged the government of the day that it should in no way succumb and decide anything for the people of Nagaland ‘under the dictates by the non indigenous students organizations of Nagaland.’
‘The ENSF shall not accept in toto whatever decision is taken by the state government in regard to Nagaland staff selection board without the prior consultation with the stakeholders of Nagaland including ENSF. The federation further stated that the same press will also be submitted to the chief minister in form of representation,’ the group added.
