Imphal, Sep. 12 (EMN): The 2nd AMFA Cup 2022 began at artificial turf ground at Lamlong bridge junction in Imphal on Monday.
On the first match of the tournament, Kuki Sporting Club defeated Kwasiphai Youths Volunteer Organisation (KYVO) 4-2. No match will be played today (Sep. 13).
The second match of the tournament will be played between Liwachaning Youth Cultural Club and Langjing Youth Games Social Educational and Development Association;and the third match will be played between All Moirang Football Association and J Songtun Youth Club on Wednesday.
Altogether, 16 football clubs are participating in the tournament.
MLA Noorul Hassan of Kshetrigao Kendra attended the formal opening function of the football tournament in the presence of the president of All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) M Ratankumar.
The AMFA Cup 2022 is sponsored by Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust in memory of Mohd Sheikh Babumacha Mia, who was born in 1915 at Kshetri Bengoon Awang Leikai in Imphal East district and passed in 1998.
