Dimapur, Feb. 20 : A five-day training program focusing on youth leadership and community development was conducted by Altrura Society in collaboration with the Nehru Yuva Kendra of Dimapur (NYKD), from February 11 to the 15th in the Council Hall of Tenyiphe- 1 village in Dimapur.
Phyobemo Lotha, the Dimapur Youth Coordinator of the NYK was the special guest of the event, the organizers informed in a note to the media on Monday. Speaking at the inaugural programme, he acknowledged Altrura Society for organizing the training program and encouraged the young leaders participating in the event: “It is our attitude not our altitude that determines the heights of altitude.”
The speaker also urged them to adopt the 3 Cs: challenges, choices and consequences in life for a constructive and positive contribution to the society, the organizers stated in the updates. Intensive sessions were conducted on various topics such as leadership and the concept, qualities, styles, skills, roles and responsibilities; good citizenship, civic manners and respect for ethics and values; life skills, communication skills and personality development, the organizers informed.
Speaking at the programme, Visakuolie Medom , president of Altrura Society said that the organization works for public welfare through voluntary services. It had been conducting various social and capacity building events in the past year, he said. Also, he talked about the aims and objectives of the training program and emphasized on leadership and community development for overall development of the society.
He expressed the hope that the young leaders trained in the workshop would disseminate the knowledge they had garnered at the event to their respective communities for positive community development.
