The pot-holed road sector is Nagaland continues its long walk to development. According to information released by the government of India on Saturday, the state could manage only an embarrassingly paltry 25 kilometers during 2015-2016 while no highway was upgraded during the past three years.
The information was given to the Lok Sabha by minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, Pon. Radhakrishnan, on April 28. Among the states and union territories that constructed roads during said years, Nagaland is shown to have constructed a mere 25 kilometres, one among the states that had little or no forward-movement in road development.
However, it is a faint increase: During 2014-205, the length of National Highways that the state constructed was, well, 13 kilometres, the details show.
Likewise, there was no upgrade for any of the national highways for Nagaland during the past three years.
