
DIMAPUR — Alokithe H Kiho of M Tsugho village from Greenwood Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, was conferred 3rd Lt. Rev. Ivulho Shohe Meritorious Award for academic excellence.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]The award, initiated and sponsored by Ashouh Loji Aphuyemi, is given to the HSLC topper among Sumi Aphuyemi community. The award carries cash prize of INR 10,000 and certificate.
An update from Ashouh Loji Aphuyemi informed that Alokithe H Kiho was the 3rd person to win the award after Kitoka Assumi from Tsaphimi village, who secured top 7 in HSLC exam in 2015 and Anguvili Swu from Lazami village for securing top 20 in HSLC exam 2021.
The award ceremony was held at the private residence of topper in Chekiye village, Dimapur, which was attended by Ashouh Loji members along with the family members of Lt. Rev. Ivulho Shohe and the topper.
It mentioned that Rev. Ivulho Shohe of Ghokimi village was the second person to convert into Christianity among the Sumi tribe. He was the first person to translate the Gospel of Mark into Sumi and also translated 100 hymnals into Sumi, which played a vital role in the lives of early converts. Because of his commendable job, he was recognised as the first literate among Sumi tribe.
During the felicitation ceremony, Ngukato K Tsuipu, convenor of Ashouh Loji, highlighted about the award and encouraged the topper to carve a niche by becoming the first IAS/ IPS among Sumi Aphuyemi.
Shikato Shohe, former president of SAKD, spoke on behalf of Lt. Rev. Ivulho Shohe's family, while Vishito Kiho and Heshika Kiho, father of topper, spoke on behalf of topper's family.
