DIMAPUR — One of Nagaland’s most enduring
and influential music groups, Alobo Naga & The Band, celebrated a
significant milestone with the soft launch of their new EP titled Do You
Dare.
The launch event was graced by
Theja Meru, advisor to the Task Force for Music and Arts (TaFMA), who commended
the band’s longevity and spirit. Recalling how ANTB began their journey with a
single titled “Painted Dreams,” almost 15 years ago, he said the band continues
to paint dreams. “They’re still writing songs and
it’s an inspiration to all of us,” he said.
Noting that 15 years is a very
long time for a band to stay together, Meru went on to say that the world of
entertainment and music is incredibly challenging—full of hurdles—and only the
daring will survive. “They are one of the daring ones. They have shown that
they are not faint-hearted. They have come a long way. They continue to write,
they continue to push boundaries, and they continue to dream.”
“This band is not just one of the oldest in
Nagaland—they are among the best,” Meru added.
Surrounded
by close friends, former band members, family, and longtime supporters, Alobo
Naga, frontman of the band, reflected on the group’s beginnings in 2010 and the
dream that carried them forward.
“This EP
is not just a collection of songs,” he explained. “Each of the five tracks
tells a unique story. It’s a journey—built with our past members,
collaborations with young talents, and a reflection of our experiences,
struggles, and aspirations.”
The
release features contributions from writers and producers including Bambi
Kevichusa, Nourhe Khate, and Kevi Pucho, among others.
The event
also marked the announcement of the band’s upcoming multi-city tour, Right
to the Rhythm—curated by Candies Studio, powered by Royal Enfield, and
supported by TaFMA, with Hard Rock Cafe as the venue partner.
Kicking
off in Pune and Kolkata, the tour aims to promote the EP across India, with
potential expansions into Southeast Asian markets. “Our aim is to build
cultural bridges through music, elevate Nagaland’s musical presence nationally,
and promote riding culture as a medium for artistic exploration and
storytelling,” Alobo said.
Prior to
the launch, the band completed a successful pre-promotional tour across Assam,
Meghalaya, and Arunachal Pradesh, receiving strong support from fans. “The
response has been overwhelming. We are more motivated than ever to take Naga
music across India and beyond,” he added.
The event concluded with a
listening of “You and I,” written by Kevichusa, with Bethel Tsuzu on the keys.
The Do You Dare EP is now
available on streaming platforms. Tour dates and further announcements are
expected soon.
