Dimapur, June 13: Alo Angh of Longzang village under Aboi sub-division in Mon district was anointed as the Chief Angh within its jurisdiction on May 25. To commemorate the auspicious occasion, the newly crowned Chief Angh organized a thanksgiving and celebration programme where he had invited representatives from more than fifteen villages and special invitees from Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest and minister of Rural Development, Rural Employment & Poverty Alleviation, CL John, mentioned that kingship existed in the world from ancient time as with the Konyak tribe. Stating that we are living in a Christian era, he urged the Chief Angh to dispense administration basing on Christian principles in accordance with the teaching of Jesus Christ.
According to the traditional law, the Angh and his royal family have the right to levy tax on its citizen and that the citizens have the duty to pay tax as required. However, the chief guest reminded and encouraged the Chief Angh to give ten tithes as well as offering to the church as is mentioned in the Holy Bible. He continued that this act of being obedient to the teachings of Jesus Christ/ Holy Bible would bring prosperity, peace and blessing upon the kingdom.
