All Sumi Students’ Union temporarily suspends agitation
The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK) on Tuesday announced temporary suspension of its ongoing agitation over the demand to upgrade Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu

- DIMAPUR — The All Sumi Students’ Union (SKK)
on Tuesday announced temporary suspension of its ongoing agitation over the
demand to upgrade Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu (KPA) to a full-fledged
engineering college.
- The decision came after the Directorate of Technical
Education, in a letter to the SKK on Tuesday, informed that the chief minister
has instructed the department to convene a consultative meeting with all the
stakeholders on March 17.
- The meeting will be held at 11 am in the conference hall of
the Directorate of Technical Education, which will be chaired by the Advisor
for Transport and Technical Education.
- In the letter, the Technical Education department assured
that it is committed to address the demand of SKK.
- SKK president, Gihuka K Zhimo, told Eastern Mirror that the
union has accepted the department’s request, also taking into consideration the
meeting convened by the chief minister on March 10, for implementation of the
Cabinet’s decision.
- Zhimo said the agitation has been temporarily suspended till
March 17. However, the union will resume protest if the government fails to
address its demand, he said.
- He also informed that the union on Tuesday attended a
meeting convened by Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Toiho Yeptho,
at Atoizu with regard to the KPA upgrade.
- Apart from the SKK, representatives from the Sümi Hoho, Sümi
Kukami Hoho, Sümi Youth Organisation, principal of Khelhoshe Polytechnic, and
public leaders of Asukhuto, also attended the meeting.
