Dimapur, Oct. 29 (EMN): All Sumi Chess Championship 2019 organised by Sumi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN) commenced on October 29 at Tourist Lodge, Dimapur. The three-day chess championship will conclude on October 31.
While addressing the gathering on the inaugural function, president of Sumi Chess Association Nagaland, Ikiho Rochill said that the main reason for organising the event is to promote young players, especially those under-14 and under-17.
Rochill mentioned that they are trying to spread peace and respect for one another through the game and added that one must have discipline and game spirit, without which one would not improve in the game.
Sumi Chess Association Nagaland (SCAN) General Secretary, Mugha Kiba Swu, informed that around 45 participants have registered for the event, which will be held for under-14, under-17 and open categories. He added that the total prize money for the championship is INR 1, 30,000 and chess coach of Nagaland, Mughaho Awomi will be the Chief Arbiter of the event.
