DIMAPUR — The All Sümi Students' Union (SKK) has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that government employees in Sümi-inhabited areas serve diligently at their designated postings.
In a press release, the SKK stated that the reaffirmation was made during the union’s first executive meeting held on Thursday.
The union emphasised that meaningful development can only be achieved when officials discharge their duties with integrity, dedication, and with a genuine sense of responsibility.
“Holding public offices is a solemn responsibility, not a matter of personal convenience.
“When officers and staffs remain absent from their duties without valid justification, the functioning of the government institutions is severely compromised, and the public bears the direct consequences, essential services are disrupted, administrative processes are delayed, and developmental progress is obstructed. Such negligence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” the union stated.

The SKK directed all concerned heads of departments and government employees to immediately report and remain at their respective postings, ensuring the proper execution of their official responsibilities.
It cautioned that non-compliance will invite strict public scrutiny and that the matter will be escalated to the appropriate higher authorities for necessary disciplinary action.
The SKK affirmed that it would not remain silent in the face of continued negligence. It further said that officers and staff were expected to uphold the highest standards of honesty, discipline, and unwavering commitment in the discharge of their duties.
It went on to state that, in furtherance of its objective, the union would conduct regular and surprise inspections of government offices in Sümi-inhabited areas.
The findings of such inspections would be formally documented and made public.
Detailed reports would also be submitted to the competent authorities, accompanied by strong recommendations for decisive action against anyone found absent without valid reason or failing to fulfil their mandated responsibilities, the SKK stated.
“The public deserve accountability, transparency, and responsive governance. The All Sümi Students' Union (SKK) remains steadfast in its resolve to ensure responsibility, efficiency, and the proper functioning of all government offices,” it added.
