Dimapur, March 5 (EMN): The NF Railway is said to be going strong towards reducing the carbon footprint within its premises thereby contributing and promoting a greener environment.
A press release issued by the NF Railways in Maligaon on March 5 mentioned that out of 505 stations in N F Railway 260 stations is said to have been completely fitted by LED fittings.
Tinsukia division of N F Railway is said to have become the first division to achieve the feat of making all stations 100% LED lit and out of 132 electrified stations under Katihar division 129 is siad to have already covered while the remaining 3 is said to be converted shortly.
In Alipurduar division out of 85 electrified stations, 59 stations is said to have been covered to LED while the remaining 26 stations is said to be converted by March end. Also, in Rangiya Division out of 97 electrified stations, 77 stations have already been converted while the remaining 20 stations is said to be converted by the end of March.
In Lumding division out of 124 electrified stations, 68 stations have been converted by LED fittings already and the remaining 56 stations are targeted for full conversion by end of March.
There is said to be a saving of about 10 watts per LED fittings being fitted. After completion of all stations with LED fittings, other railway service buildings like offices, railway quarters etc will be taken for 100% conversion to LED fittings, the release stated.
There is said to be two ‘A1’ category and 20 ‘A’ category stations in N F Railway from which a total savings of energy bill is said to be about INR 67, 36,274 annually. When all station will be converted with LED fittings, the savings will increase by many folds, the release stated.
NF Railway is said to have already engaged an agency named EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited) to complete the work.
It is siad to be mentioned that all new assets being constructed by the N F Railway construction organisation like new line, stations etc throughout northeastern region is said to be fitted with full LED fittings from the very beginning.
