MOKOKCHUNG — The All-Nagaland Volleyball Championship 2025 began at Aliba Village, Mokokchung, organised by LL Group Dimapur on Tuesday.


The championship drew 18 teams from across the state, including 11 teams from Zunheboto, Tuensang, Wokha, Kohima, Niuland, Chümoukedima, and Dimapur.

In the opening match, Changtongya Volleyball Association (CVA) defeated Fabled United from Dimapur in straight sets, 25-14 and 25-15. CVA’s strong serves and powerful spikes dominated the game, leaving their opponents struggling to keep up.


Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) councillor Wabang Kichu attended the inaugural programme as the guest of honour.

Speaking at the event, Kichu stated that volleyball has become one of the most popular sports in Nagaland because of its versatility and adaptability. He observed that the game provides opportunities to nurture young talents due to its suitability in Naga society as well as its status as an Olympic-recognised sport.


He remarked that champions are not made on the sidelines but are shaped through hard work, determination, consistency, perseverance, and teamwork.

Kichu further pointed out that Naga youths are endowed with sporting talent but noted that indiscipline often leads to failure in life. He encouraged players to embrace humility on their path to success.
