Dimapur, Oct. 2 (EMN): The Lt. Tokuho Awomi memorial All Nagaland State Chess Championship organised by the Sumi Chess Association under the aegis of the Nagaland Chess Association got underway at the Tourist Lodge in Dimapur on Tuesday. In an update received here on Tuesday, 46 players are vying for the coveted championship under three different categories: open, U-14, and U-17.
An obituary one minute silence was observed in the honour of late Tokuho Awomi, who was the founding member of Sumi Chess Association Nagaland. Rev. Yanthan, Pastor, A.G. Church Dimapur invoked God’s blessing for the championship. From Dimapur district, students of Christian Higher Secondary School, Livingstone Higher Secondary School, Hope Academy, Little Star Higher Secondary School, and Kendre Vidyalaya are participating and from Kohima, Coraggio, Mezhur HSS, and Holy Family.
