- DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers
Association (ANEFWA), in view of an assurance received from the Power
department, has announced that it will keep the proposed agitation in abeyance
for a period of 30 days, effective from March 6.
- However, in a letter to the engineer-in-chief of the
Department of Power, it was made clear that the agitation will resume anytime
after the expiry of the 30-day time frame.
- It may be mentioned that earlier, in an ultimatum to the
engineer-in-chief, the association listed ten key demands, which included the
regularisation of operation and maintenance (O&M) staff jugali, the
finalisation of the pending promotion of all cadres by filling up the vacancies
through promotions without further delay, and the finalisation of the pending
post creation of 849 posts proposed due to the acute shortage of O&M staff.
- The association, in the same ultimatum, also demanded that
the department finalise the pending draft Subordinate Service Rules, revive and
reinstate the payment of risk allowance to work-charged employees, and pay the
one-time unpaid uniform allowance.
- Besides, it also demanded that the department provide
requisite pool vehicles in all districts, provide safety tool kits for O&M
staff, provide rest houses for O&M staff, and consider posthumous
regularisation and payment of ex gratia to all work-charged employees who died
while performing bona fide government duty.
- The association mentioned that, in a meeting convened by the
department, it was assured that the demands would be taken up with the higher
authorities for consideration.
