DIMAPUR — The
annual general body meeting of the All Nagaland Domestic Workers Union (ANDWU)
was held in the Assisi Auditorium, Dimapur, on December 10.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv. Priya Shyam highlighted the
pivotal role played by the union’s office bearers and members in safeguarding
the rights and dignity of domestic workers, stated a press release.
She emphasised the power and influence of collective action
through the union and the invaluable contributions of women domestic workers to
society.
A key highlight of the event was the sharing session by
members Asela, Maya, and Muni, who spoke about critical topics such as
cybercrime and security, as well as the rights and duties of domestic workers.
The meeting also included the election of five new executive
members to replace those who had completed their terms.
Hoyili, who served as
the vice president for one term, was replaced by Muni Dev. The other four
members who completed their terms were replaced by Nasima Begum, Thushi, Meena
Singh, and Vihoni Chopi.
The newly elected members were felicitated by Sr. Pramila,
director of the Assisi Centre for Integrated Development and Coordinator of the
NDWM Nagaland region, and Adv. Priya Shyam.
The members represented 31 colonies, with a total of 355
members present.
