
Dimapur, Dec. 30 (EMN): The commissioner and secretary of Health department, Y Kikheto Sema, stated that all districts should have functional 10 bedded intensive care units (ICU) by January 2023 and directed the concerned department officials to look in to the matter to ensure that all the non-functional equipments are restored at the earliest.
Kikheto stated this during a surprise visit to District Hospital in Wokha on Friday to oversee the preparedness of the 10-bedded ICU, which would be virtually inaugurated by the Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, on January 6, 2023, stated a DIPR report.
Interacting with the medical superintendent, Dr. Thungbemo Patton; deputy CMO, Dr. Zuben Kikon’ and doctors, Kikheto said the chief minister and health minister were of the view that all districts should have functional 10-bedded ICU by January 2023.
During his visit, Kikheto inspected the PSA/ oxygen plant, transformer and generator, which were recently installed.
After reviewing the status of the equipments which were install recently, Kikheto raised four main issues, where he was later informed that PSA/ oxygen plant, transformer and generator were all non-functional and connection of Jio fibre was yet to be installed because of some technical problems.
In response, Kikheto made on spot calls to the concerned department officials and directed them to look into the matter at the earliest possible time and ensure that all the non-functional equipments are restored at the earliest. He also reminded the officials at the directorate to take up the matter on priority not only for Wokha district but other districts as well.
While lauding the doctors and nurses for working even on holidays, he encouraged them to continue the good work and serve the people. He also urged them to create awareness to let the public know that Wokha district would have a functional ICU by January 7, 2023.
He further urged the people to have the feeling of belongingness and sense of responsibility and love the hospital property as their own.
Meanwhile, the deputy CMO of Wokha, Dr. Zuben Kikon, appreciated the commissioner and secretary for the concerned shown by visiting the hospital. He further assured to give their best in order to serve the people and stated that the ICU would be made functional with the little available resources available.
