With an aim to create awareness and provide treatment for the addicts, Hope Welfare Society in collaboration with Prodigals’ Home organized a 15-day Free detoxification-cum-de-addiction camp at Women Short Stay Home, Prodigals’ Home. Altogether 10 alcoholics and drug addicts participated in the camp. They were detoxified and provided with various spiritual and mental trainings. From 10 campers, 8 were from Mon district, one from Medziphema and another from Dimapur. But the one from Medziphema went relapsed.
The camp, commenced on October 21 concluded today with Rev. Dirang Lungalang, Senior Pastor Christ Community Church Chumukedima as the main speaker.
The speaker preached about the works of devil that can weaken the souls through alcohol and any other kind of addictions. He said the worst person to fight is someone who knows everything about oneself.
He also encouraged the campers never to fight with the devil but should ‘run’ away from the temptations by allowing God to fight.
He also said, addiction of drugs and alcohol, corruption and any other kind of addiction are the works of devil. From the 9 remaining campers, 5 decided to go for further treatment under the sponsorship of various groups and individuals.
Hope Welfare Society which was formed in the year 2013 is run by around 12 recovering addicts who plan to bring changes in the society through various programmes that can help addicts become sober persons.
