MOKOKCHUNG — The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has urged the Mokokchung district administration to take immediate action to resolve a dispute at Government High School (GHS) Longkhum, where a controversy over fourth-grade staff appointments has led to the closure of the institution for over 50 days.
In a letter submitted on Thursday to the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, AKM president Lanulemba Longchar and general secretary Aomayang Longkumer highlighted that the school has remained shut since February 27, 2026.

According to the AKM, more than 50 enrolled students are facing educational setbacks, with their learning halted, severely affecting their academic progress.
It stated that the prolonged closure of an educational institution cannot be justified, especially when it directly impacts students.
“We (AKM) earnestly appeal to your esteemed office to intervene at the earliest and facilitate a fair and amicable resolution between all stakeholders. Immediate steps may kindly be taken to ensure the reopening of the school so that the students can resume their classes without further delay,” the letter stated.
The AKM reaffirmed its commitment to safeguard student welfare and pledged to extend full cooperation in resolving the matter.
