Dimapur, Aug. 13 (EMN): The Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), the apex students’ body of the Ao community, today expressed its unflinching support to the All Nagaland College Students Union’s (ANCSU) charter of demands submitted to the state government on Aug. 10.
The AKM, in a press release, endorsed the memorandum submitted by the ANCSU and said that the said that the union is addressing the genuine grievances faced by the students’ community.
It stated that the ANCSU demands were meant for the students’ welfare and to secure a better future for the students in regard to transparency in implementing scholarships schemes and free from the land encroachment of college campuses.
The AKM expressed shock that the government is yet to initiate ‘positive gestures to solve the grievances’ of the students’ community.
In this connection, the AKM expressed deep concern for the college students who are boycotting their classes in response to the clarion call by the ANCSU and said that ‘missing classes for days is a huge loss for the future of the students’. It therefore appealed the state government to understand the magnitude of the grievances faced by the students and to resolve the problems at the earliest so that the students can resume their regular classes.
