Dimapur, November 1: Observing that the State Cabinet decision on July 23, 2012, recommending recognition of Rongmei as one of the indigenous tribes of Nagaland has created a lot of confusion and animosity among the different Naga tribes in Nagaland, Ao Students’ Conference (AKM) strongly appealed to the Chief Minister to revoke the ‘cabinet decision’ in the interest of the Naga tribes of Nagaland.
In a letter to the Chief Minister, AKM was of the view that the cabinet decision has been discussed in different forums by different organisations and for which AKM was grateful to the State government for setting up a ‘Cabinet Sub-committee’ to look into/revisit the matter. While making its undivided stance, AKM president L Jemti Longchar and the general secretary Bendangkumba Aier strongly felt that the Cabinet decision on Rongmei tribe recognition taken in 2012 should be revoked at the earliest in the interest of the Nagas of Nagaland.
