New office bearers of AKM being administered the oath at AKM Conference Hall, Mokokchung, on, March 18.[/caption]
Mokokchung, March 18: Ao Students’ Conference (AKM), the apex body of Ao students, today installed its new team of office bearers for the tenure 2017-20 at AKM Conference Hall, Mokokchung.
The new team will be headed by Imkongwati as president and Lolentoshi Jamir as assistant general secretary. The other officials included Sunglem Walling as vice president, Nekmi Longkumer as information secretary, Impoksenla as education secretary, and Rongsennukshi Aier as finance secretary. The vacant posts will be filled in coming days.
The oath taking ceremony was administrated by the tribunal general N Akok Longkumer, in the presence of AKM seniors and executive members and leaders from six range students’ bodies, while special prayer for the new team was offered by Mar Longchar, Director Youth Alive Ministry.
The outgoing president, L Jemti Longchar, in his speech, expressed heartfelt gratitude to his colleagues, executive members, seniors, tribunal councils and leaders from six ranges, who have rendered support in every endeavour after he took over the office.
While asserting that AKM office is regarded as one of the highest offices for the Ao students, he encouraged the new office bearers to be committed to serve a full-time voluntary service to the Ao community and the Nagas during their tenure. The outgoing president also advised them to place God first in everything they do in future.
The new president, Imkongwati, his acceptance speech, committed to fulfil various resolutions passed by AKM in the past and to fulfil the aspiration of the people in general.
MB Longkumer, convener of Ao Milen Committee, AKM, while highlighting achievements of AKM since its inception, lauded AKM for sowing good seeds for which the people are reaping the fruits today. He further encouraged the incoming team to strive to be leaders with determination and vigour to do better things for the welfare and uplift of people.
