Akhoya Village Council condemns remarks against SC Jamir and supports the stance of Ao Senden.
DIMAPUR — The Akhoya Village Council has expressed deep anguish over remarks made by NSCN (IM) leaders VS Atem and RH Raising against former Chief Minister SC Jamir.
In a press release, the council stated that Ungma is the ancestral village of their forefathers. Extending solidarity and support to the decisions of Ungma Senso Mongdang in particular and Ao Senden in general, the council backed the demand for the withdrawal of derogatory statements by the two NSCN (IM) leaders and the disengagement of public cooperation from their leadership.
The council stated that it is time for Naga political leadership to display magnanimity and refrain from making any leader a scapegoat for broader shortcomings in fulfilling the political aspirations of the Naga people. It added that political leaders should seek forgiveness from God and the people and forgive one another.

Ungma body backs SC Jamir, hits out at NSCN (IM) leaders
The council also expressed concern over recent remarks made by MLA Achumbemo Kikon regarding Jamir. The council described Jamir as an architect of Nagaland state and pointed out that legislators today serve in an assembly established through the efforts of Naga People's Convention leaders led by Dr. Imkongliba, Jamir, and others amidst challenging conditions in the Naga Hills.
The council urged Kikon to remain sensitive to the historical foundation and existing realities of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly and to present views geared towards the future of the Naga people.
