DIMAPUR — Following an emergency cabinet meeting on Saturday, the NSCN (R) group led by Akato Chophi has expressed regret over the December 17 incident at Thahekhu village where some of its members were allegedly involved in detaining and assaulting some youths.
In a press release, the group informed that it had carried out a “deep inquisition” in the aftermath of the incident and discovered that some of its cadres, namely Jonathan Poumai, Lamtsaba Sangtam, and Kakuho Achumi, had “connived with some public and perpetrated the reprehensible conduct.”
“The NSCN declares that the unfortunate yet deplorable actions were all personal and do not reflect the actions of the government whatsoever. Nevertheless, the NSCN, in all fairness, terminates and disowns all accused to let the law take its own course of action without any bias.
“Meanwhile, the NSCN also declares that the CCD (Crime Control Department) stands under suspension with immediate effect and recalls all staff under CCD,” it stated.
